Purpose

The investment plans assume construction of two car parks, allowing for development of a convenient way of moving around the city centre for visitors. People working in Katowice as well as its inhabitants will benefit from the proposed urban solutions. The project assumptions derive from the proven methods applied in the Western Europe. Implementation of the projects will allow for:

• reduction or avoidance of the continuous problem of several years with the lack of parking space in the area of the Katowice city centre and the main institutions
• implementation of a convenient and advantageous system of moving around the city centre for visitors
• development and modernisation of the Dworcowy Square and the Bolesława Chrobrego Square, by means of adapting visually and functionally to the high operational requirements compliant with the European standards
• reduction of the road traffic, development of pedestrian routes and introduction of additional green areas in the Katowice city centre
• improvement of living conditions of the inhabitants of Katowice
• reduction of traffic flow by means of removal of communication routes and parking areas on the land surface by their relocation underground
• facilitating road communication between the main objects in the Katowice city centre
